I am using PlayaVR on Android, with a Bluetooth controller. It works great for websites that support your API.
However, when I go to a website that doesn't support it (for example YouTube or PH), I can still browse that website in webview, I can still choose VR videos, the video plays in 2D, and the player has a cardboard option, but pressing this does not work in PlayaVR like it does in Chrome for Android. The same video via Chrome will play in VR in cardboard mode very nicely, but from PlayaVR you get an error asking about WebXR support.
What's more, playing videos in webview mode (even in 2D) tend to freeze up the controller, which doesn't respond again until I restart PlayaVR.
Is there a version of PlayaVR with WebXR support? Or a way for PlayaVR to open those links in Chrome?
@Scott Buckley Hi! At the moment, there isn’t a version of PLAY'A that supports WebXR. However, I can suggest enabling a setting in the app that opens links in an external browser. Hopefully, this will improve your experience and allow you to switch between sites that support our API and those requiring WebXR without leaving the app. Please let me know if this helps!
Regarding the controller bug, I’ll ask the team to look into it. Could you please send me your Device ID?
